Swedish Lapland offers a warm family welcome under the northern lights corridor.
We are extremely proud to offer this four night family activity holiday in the snow covered forests of Swedish Lapland for the second year running. In our modern chaotic world it is often difficult to find quality family time. This holiday takes you to a magical winter wonderland and brings a little peace and quiet to our hectic schedules.
The excursions have been specifically designed for adults and children alike. Start by learning the essentials with a Nordic Winter Skills course. Among other things, learn how to walk in snowshoes and light a fire in the snow – it’s not as hard as you think! Successfully making a hot drink creates an enormous sense of satisfaction.
Enjoy an amazing snowmobile excursion through the archipelago to the famous pack ice (also known as the ice wall) of Bothnia Bay. Created by the movement of two ice sheets, affected by the sea currents below and the wind above, the pack ice is constantly changing shape and location. Glistening ice formations can be up to 10 metres high. A real highlight.
Other family activities include a husky excursion through the forests of Swedish Lapland and a guided northern lights snowshoe walk. With luck it won’t be long until the green lights start to dance across the sky overhead.

Major attractions at Brändön Lodge include the northern lights, the magical snow covered forests of Swedish Lapland and the Luleå archipelago. This is the perfect location to enjoy a magical escape from the hustle and bustle of big cities.
Cosy refurbished cabins surround the main lodge on the frozen edge of the Gulf of Botnia in Swedish Lapland, under the Northern Lights Corridor. The lodge offers a warm welcome with an open fire and a restaurant serving delicious food produced from local ingredients including fish, reindeer, moose and berries.
There are fifteen spacious cabins overlooking the frozen Luleå archipelago made up of 1500 islands. These cabins are ideal for a couples or families. Each cabin was refurbished in 2013 and has two bedrooms (1 x double / twin room, 1 x twin room) plus a bathroom. In the lounge there is a TV plus comfortable sofa (extra bed) and windows looking out across the snow covered wilderness.

Nordic Winder Skills
Adventure and education. Learn some simple survival skills so you can enjoy the Arctic climate. Your local guides will teach you how to dress well, recognise animal tracks and how to make a hot drink over an open fire in the snow. Lunch is served in a lavvu, a traditional Sami tent. 3hrs.
Pack Ice Snowmobile Adventure
Outside is the frozen Bothnia bay with its seemingly endless fields of pack ice and snow. Some years the blue ice of the sea piles up into formations about 10 metres high - a mighty experience! Lunch is served around an open fire during the tour. 4hrs.
Husky Excursion
Dog sledding is a fantastic activity and our 4 legged friends are eager to show you their home. The adults will learn to take control of a husky team and drive them on a forest and lake trail. The children will simply sit back and enjoy the ride! 1hr.
Northern Lights Snowshoe Walk
Walking through the surrounding forests your experienced guide will tell about your surroundings and if conditions are right the northern lights may be appear above your head! This is as close to nature you can get. 2hrs.
