Lyngen Lodge - Midnight Sun

Far inside the Arctic Circle in the heart of the northern Norwegian fjords there is something quite special. Lyngen Lodge offers a touch of luxury on the Lyngenfjord.

Overview

‘Small scale’ and ‘genuine’ are key words here. With just eight rooms and a warming real log fire, there is a very relaxed and informal atmosphere. This is a place to relax, escape and take a well-earned break from our modern chaotic world.

Leave your body clock at home, it simply won’t work here as day and night become one. The midnight sun is one of the most magical and surreal things you can experience. It will leave you wanting more!

Beautiful scenery, high mountains, and an impressive fjord mean that there is no end to the activities and excursions available here. Glacier walking, hiking, sea kayaking and nature safaris are just some of the activities available at Lyngen Lodge during the summer. The scenery is outstanding and to make the most of it, make sure you take your walking shoes. During the evening give your feet a rest and take a dip in the hot tub. This is a true luxury-in-experience holiday.

The best time to see the midnight sun is late May, June and July when the sun does not set and simply casts a beautiful yellow light across the night sky. Northern Norway really is a very special location. Renting a car gives you that little bit of extra freedom during your stay at Lyngen Lodge. A drive through the Norwegian fjords is really something quite special.

As Scandinavian travel specialists, we can combine many of our holidays in Norway to find the best package for you, please ask! Including a hire car in your Lyngen Lodge holiday is an option for those looking to explore a little further into the fjords and mountains.

Accommodation

Lyngen Lodge - Lyngen Fjord

Cosy luxury far inside the Arctic Circle. This is the Arctic and even in the summer and under the midnight sun the weather can be unpredictable - part of the attraction of this wonderful part of our fragile world.

Lyngen Lodge is located in the Lyngenfjord offering spectacular views across the fjord and of the Lyngen Alps. The transfer from Tromso airport is part of the whole experience. It includes two ferry journeys across the Lyngen- and Ullsfjords and the Breivik valley.

Lyngen Lodge is located 30 metres above sea level and offers views over the Lyngenfjord and across the Lyngen Alps. There are eight cosy en-suite rooms, a comfortable lounge with a welcoming open fireplace, and a sauna and outdoor hot tub, perfect for relaxing in under the midnight sun. Serious consideration has been given to energy efficiency and insulation. Grass roofs provide excellent insulation and geothermal energy is a green and cost-effective way of heating.

Your meals are an important part of your stay and you will be catered for on a full board basis. Fish is a key ingredient throughout Norway and in this part of Norway, so are moose and reindeer.

Activities & Excursions

Lyngen Lodge

Guided & self-guided excursions. Some tours are for a minimum of four adults but don't worry if you are too few. There is a good chance of more people being found locally to make up the numbers. Just let us know which activities you would like to book and we will schedule these to match the programme at Lyngen Lodge. Children between the ages of four and twelve are half price for these activities.
