The rail journey between Oslo and Bergen is recognised as one of the most beautiful in the world. One of the special features is the Hardangervidda, Europe's largest mountain plateau, where you may be lucky enough to see one of Norway's largest reindeer herds.
Travel alongside rivers, lakes and through mountain valleys between Oslo and Bergen which were first linked by rail in the early 1900's. Oslo and Bergen are contrasting cities, popular during the summer but worth a visit at any time of year.
The picturesque city of Bergen is the southernmost calling point of the Hurtigruten Coastal Steamer and a picturesque city with a long history. The famous colourful wharf is on the UNESCO World Heritage list, there are spectacular view points around the city and a vast array of boat trips to deep fjords and steep mountains.
You also have the opportunity to visit the fjord village of Flåm and travel along the world famous Flåm railway - one of the steepest in the world.

Clarion Hotel Admiral is located on the quayside in Bergen. Half of the rooms offer a harbour view and views of the historic quay just across the water. You will also find a cosy waterside terrace. The hotel is conveniently located just a couple of minutes’ walk from shops, bars and restaurants and the airport bus stop is handily located close to the tourist office on the quayside.
For a guaranteed harbour view you need to upgrade to a superior room.

There is lots to do and we recommend a visit to the tourist office. There are several fjord excursions including the Hardanger- and Sognefjords. The famous Flåm railway is easily accessible and the train to / from Oslo offers spectacular scenery. A guided walk is a good idea to obtain local knowledge. Admire the views from the funicular (in the city) or take the cable car to the top of the 'seven mountains'.

The water front is less than 10mins walk away. The history of Oslo dates back to 1000AD and can be found in Gamlebyen (Old Town). As a Scandinavian city it will come as no surprise that architecture and design feature heavily.
