Okay
Experience the magic of Stockholm during the long summer days and the popular Baltic holiday island of Gotland with Simply Sweden
Stockholm is a city on water and often referred to as the ‘Venice of the North’. Made up of 14 unique islands, the centre of Stockholm features the history of the Old Town, the culture of Södermalm and the green spaces of Djurgården. With small and personal hotels, excellent public transport and interesting and exciting attractions it is not surprising that Stockholm is the capital of Scandinavia.
Gotland is Sweden's largest island with 500 miles of stunning Baltic coastline. It is located 120 miles southeast of Stockholm and is easily accessible by plane or ferry from the mainland. Gotland is a popular summer coastal location but is worth a visit at any time of year with activities, attractions and impressive natural spectacles.
An endless array of attractions make Gotland the perfect holiday destination. One national park and over 100 nature reserves create an intense experience of the true beauty of nature as dramatic cliffs, rare birds, bogs and marshes are protected for future generations.
UNESCO has recognised the capital of Gotland, Visby, as a world heritage site. Visby was an important Viking centre between the 12th and 14th centuries and is the best-preserved fortified commercial city in northern Europe.
Sandy beaches, boat tours, cycle rental / tours, historic guided tours, fossil safaris, glass blowing, horse adventures, underground caves, fascinating rock stacks, steam trains, canoeing / kayaking and sea fishing are just some of the entertaining features of Gotland.
